Since emigrating from the UK Fiona has been generating ideas and writing features for, among others, North & South, Mindfood, New Zealand Geographic, Australia & New Zealand magazine, Farmers Weekly, Wild Tomato, School Journal, Woman's Day and Woman's Weekly.
Prior to the move to New Zealand, for a number of years she wrote a regular piece for The Sunday Times' Business Section. She also wrote regularly for many other publications including The Times, Independent on Sunday, News of the World's Sunday supplement, Express, BBC’s Eve magazine, The Great Outdoors, Woman’s Own and Woman.
From time to time she also worked on the team in London at Bauer's Bella magazine to cover for staff holidays.
Having always had a passion for travel, it was a family trip to Africa as a teenager that first led her to begin travel writing. She's carried on producing travel features ever since and holidays have never been the same as a result.
A round-the-world trip with husband Tim first brought her to New Zealand in 2000. The pair yearned to spend more time here, especially after re-visiting during a commission to write a feature for The Independent on Sunday about travelling around the world in just a month. Finally, with their two small children, they upped sticks in 2006 and moved to Nelson.
